The Fly Fishing Season in NZ

As with most fishing around the globe, the question of "when is the best time to go fishing?" seems always to be un-answered with a quiet sniff and a change of subject. There is of course a fishing season in New Zealand running from 1st of October through to 30th of April and the whole season is packed with different opportunities for fly fishing.

The height of summer is December-March, this time provides the best of the dry fly fishing yet it can be done all year round as with all other forms of flies being just as successful too.

Outside of the season there are still areas which can be fly fished with great success and this time of year should certainly not to be dismissed.
