Creating Castabroad- Craig Somerville

With a keen passion for fly fishing with roots into his early childhood, Craig Somerville made it a personal challenge to create an organisation that helped firstly those that he knew from home but also the wider world of fly fishers that New Zealand, as wild as it is, can be appreciated without having to pack a tent, extra sets of water-proofing, a map and a smuggler style fly rod. Instead, Craig & team provide all that you need for an unforgettable experience at the highest of world standards.

The first task was to seek out the area which is typical of the New Zealand paradisiacal dream in the minds of travellers/fishermen. The next was to determine the highest standards available in the area and put them to test against Craig’s past experiences whilst working in some of the finest hotels in Scotland. This then determining a list of hosts that he could arrange to accommodate his clients. Guides were sourced with 100’s of years of collective local fishing knowledge, restaurants were criticised, local vineyards were sampled, glaciers conquered, mountains hiked, beaches trodden on and the most arduous task of all, rivers were fished.

The result was Castabroad Ltd.
