 Backcountry Heli-Fishing in New Zealand

The most impressive fly fishing New Zealand has to offer is generally in the most remote locations. Due to it’s rugged landscapes rural New Zealand has relied on the use of helicopters for decades, not too long ago heli-fishing in New Zealand became the new dream for fly fishers all over the world. The advantages, as obvious as they seem, are exactly that – providing remote backcountry river access within minutes of your luxury lodge’s front lawn and you are able to fully appreciate the geography of the local landscapes from an unrivaled vantage point.

Without the use of helicopters, a day of fly fishing the remote backcountry rivers becomes a near impossibility. Multiple day hikes and overnight camping is required just to get to the same place that is literally a total of 20 minutes flight time RETURN!

Your personal guide for the day will liase with the pilot for you to land next to your first available fishing pool or glide. If the river is not within the ideal conditions, simply fly on to the next one.

At the end of the day, again the pilot and your guide will have established a pick-up location and time right next to the river and you will simply be taken back to your exquisite hotel/lodge for a cool NZ beer or G&T and an outdoor spa bath.

New Zealand has strict quality maintenance of all it’s aircraft and Castabroad has researched and uses only the most reputable and safe services. Your safety is paramount, though your enjoyment is very closely rated second.
